박찬호는 7일 다저스타디움에서 벌어진 애리조나 다이아몬드백스와의 경기에서 7이닝동안 4안타 2실점으로 상대 타선을 요리했지만 팀 공격력의 도움을 받지 못해 시즌 첫승의 꿈이 좌절됐다. 

  이날 투구수 104개를 기록한 박찬호는 삼진을 7개 뽑은 반면 사사구는 2개밖에 허용하지 않았다. 

  이틀연속 연장전을 벌인 다저스는 10회말 게리 세필드가 좌측펜스를 넘어가는 끝내기 1점홈런을 터뜨려 3-2로 승리, 개막전부터 2연승을 기록했다. 

  박찬호는 12일 새벽 5시 10분 다저스타디움 에서 벌어지는 콜로라도 로키스와의 경기에 다시 선발등판, 첫승에 재도전한다. 

  1회 삼자범퇴로 산뜻하게 출발한 박찬호는 2회 루이스 곤잘레스는 우전안타, 버나드 길키는 몸맞는 공으로 각각 출루시켜 1사 1,2루를 맞았지만 후속타자들을 범타로 처리해 위기를 넘겼다. 

  다저스는 2회말 아드리안 벨트레가 좌월 2점홈런을 날려 기선을 잡았으나 박찬호는 3회 스티브 핀리, 4회 매트 윌리엄스에게 각각 1점홈런을 맞아 2-2 동점을 허용했다. 

  5회에도 2사 1,2루의 위기를 무사히 넘긴 박찬호는 6회초 선두타자 윌리엄스의 얼굴쪽으로 위협구를 던졌고 양팀 선수들이 그라운드로 몰려나와 몸싸움을 벌이기도 했다. 

  박찬호는 7회초를 삼자범퇴로 처리한 뒤 7회말 공격에서 대타 데이브 핸슨과 교체, 승패를 기록하지 못했다. 
 

7일(이하 한국시간) 다저스타디움에서 벌어진 시즌 2차전 애리조나 다이아몬드백스와 경기에 선발 등판한 박찬호는 7이닝 동안 4안타만 내주고 삼진 7개에 4사구 2개로 호투했으나 7회말 2대2 상황에서 마운드를 물러나 아쉬움을 남겼다. 
 
27타자를 맞아 총 107개의 공을 던져 스트라이크가 67개였고, 이날 최고 구속은 155㎞. 

다저스는 2회말 에드리언 벨트레의 2점 홈런으로 2대0으로 앞섰으나 박찬호는 3회초 1사후 1번 스티브 핀리에게 우월 홈런을 허용했다. 

원스트라익 원볼에서 던진 체인지업이 높이 들어간 것을 핀리는 놓치지 않았다. 

박찬호는 4회초에도 첫 타자 4번 매트 윌리암스 에게 초구 높은 직구를 던진 것이 중월 홈런이 되면서 동점을 허용했다. 

윌리암스에게 홈런을 허용한 직후부터 박찬호는 7회까지 12타자를 맞아 안타 1개와 4구 한개만을 내주고 삼진 4개를 추가하며 역투했으나 타선이 터지지 않아 7회말 타석때 대타 데이브 핸슨과 교체됐다. 

방어율 2.57을 기록한 박찬호는 오는 12일 콜로라도 록키스와 홈경기에서 시즌 첫 승에 다시 도전한다. 

다저스는 이날 10회 연장전까지 가는 접전 끝에 3번 개리 셰필드가 애리조나 3번째 투수 브라이언 앤더슨을 좌월 싱글 홈런으로 두드려 3-2로 이틀 연속 연장전에서 짜릿한 승리를 거뒀다.

 ○…7일(한국시간) 다저스타디움은 경기전 2시간전까지 우박이 쏟아지고 굵은 비가 내리는 등 악천후가 이어졌으나 1시간전부터 햇살이 비쳐  경기진행에 전혀 지장을 주지 않았다.박찬호는 경기후 “습하고 한기를 느꼈으나  경기에는 큰 지장을 주지 않았다”고 설명.이날 다저스타디움은 오전 내내  내린 비탓인지 섭씨 12도로 쌀쌀한 날씨. 

 ○…박찬호가 등판한 LA 다저스－애리조나 2차전은 날씨가 나빠 예상보다 적은 3만3천1백19명의 관중이 입장. 

 ○…1회초 박찬호가 마운드에 오르자 랩송 D.O FUNK가 스피커를 통해  다저스타디움에 울려 퍼졌다.이 노래는 박찬호가 선곡.다저스는 올해부터 선수가 선곡한 노래를 마운드에 오르거나 타석에 설 때 틀어준다. 

 ○…찰리 허프 투수코치는 6회 윌리엄스에게 위협성 투구로 몸싸움을  촉발한 박찬호가 이닝을 마치고 덕아웃으로 돌아오자 무언가 얘기를 나누며 어깨를 두들겨 눈길. 

 ○…박찬호와 처음 상대한 애리조나 선발 토드 스토틀마이어도 7.1이닝  동안  9안타 2실점으로 호투했으나 2-2 동점상황에서 물러나 승패를  기록하지 못했다. 
 

 LOS ANGELES (TICKER) -- Gary Sheffield's 10th-inning homer lifted the Los Angeles Dodgers to their second dramatic extra-inning victory in as many games, 3-2 over the Arizona Diamondbacks. 

 With one out, Sheffield ripped a hanging changeup from Brian Anderson (0-1) over the left-field fence on the first pitch. 

 "It was a thrill, we pulled off another victory," said Sheffield. "I got a changeup high and connected. Guys make mistakes, when they do, they're going to pay for it." 

 "I just tried to throw a quality pitch, but I left it down the middle," said Anderson. "And Sheff he did what he had to do." 

 On Monday, Raul Mondesi tied the game with a three-run homer in the ninth and won it with a two-run blast in the 11th to lift the Dodgers to an 8-6 win. 

 "He's a special player," said Dodgers manager Davey Johnson of Sheffield. "He and (Barry) Bonds are in the same class. He's playing real hard." 

 Alan Mills (1-0) worked out of trouble in the top of the 10th and tossed two scoreless innings to get the victory. Pinch hitter David Dellucci was hit by a pitch in the 10th, was sacrificed to second and took third on a wild pitch. 

 But Mills struck out Steve Finley and retired Jay Bell on a groundout to third, setting the stage for Sheffield's heroics. The Dodgers' bullpen has been solid in the first two games, allowing one run and three hits in 8 1/3 innings. 

 The game was interrupted by a benches-clearing incident in the sixth. Matt Williams, who tied the game with a solo homer in the fourth inning, nearly gave Arizona a 3-2 lead when he ripped a pitch that went just wide of the left-field foul pole. Dodgers starter Chan Ho Park drilled Williams with his next pitch, and both benches and bullpens emptied. 

 There were no ejections, but inexplicably, the umpires ruled the pitch did not hit Williams, who struck out to complete the at-bat. Finley accounted for Arizona's other run with a solo homer in the third. 

 Adrian Beltre staked Park to a 2-0 lead in the second inning with a two-run homer. The Dodgers have hit five homers in the first two games, accounting for nine of their 11 runs. 

 The pitching duel that never materialized between Dodgers ace Keivin Brown and Arizona counterpart Randy Johnson on Monday took place a day later as Park and Diamondbacks starter Todd Stottlemyre battled on even terms. 

 Devon White led off the second with a single, and two outs later, Beltre jumped on an 0-1 offering from Stottlemyre for his first homer. Finley cut the deficit to 2-1 an inning later, hitting a 1-1 pitch over the right field fence. 

 Williams led off the fourth by hammering the first pitch the opposite way over the right field fence for his 300th homer, knotting the score, 2-2. He jumped on a hanging curve thrown by Park in the sixth, sending it well into the left field seats before the Korean pitcher retaliated. 

 "It's unfortunate that a good pitcher like Park has to throw a pitch like that," said Williams. "I was just out there playing hard." 

 "I couldn't throw it right down the middle, it wasn't on purpose," countered Park. 

 Park kept the Diamondbacks in place the rest of his outing and allowed two runs and four hits over seven innings, walking one and striking out seven. 

 "It was a good game, we fought to the end," added Park. I'll have more confidence in the future. Today I was hesitant, but I'm glad we won." 

 Stottlemyre pitched into the eighth, when he ran into trouble. Sheffield singled and stole second before Mondesi struck out. White drew a walk and Showalter summoned Darren Holmes from the bullpen. He balked the runners to second and third but retired Eric Karros on an infield popout and Mark Grudzielanek to fly out to center field. 

 Stottlemyre allowed two runs and nine hits in 7 1/3 innings, and Holmes pitched 1 2/3 hitless innings before Anderson started the 10th.

브라운 혼쭐낸 애리조나 타선 '공격핵' 트래비스 리 경계1호  

 메이저리그 2년생 애리조나 다이아몬드백스의 타선이 만만치 않다.99시즌 마수걸이 승리를 기대하는 LA 다저스 박찬호에게 복병으로 떠올랐다. 

 지난해 최하위 공격력을 보였던 애리조나는 개막전 뚜껑을 열자 화끈한 공 격력으로 LA 투수들을 두들겼다.지난해 시즌내내 단 8개의 홈런밖에 허용하 지 않았던 에이스 케빈 브라운마저 5.2이닝을 던지는 동안 3개의 홈런으로 무너졌다. 

 애리조나 다이아몬드백스 공격의 핵은 트래비스 리(24).그는 차세대 올스 타감으로 꼽히는 유망주다.지난 96년 1천만달러의 계약금으로 입단할 때부터 주목을 받았다.또 홈경기 때는 자전거를 타고 구장으로 출근(?)하는 튀는 행동으로 화제를 모으기도 했다.장외에서는 두드러진 선행으로 애리조나 팬 들의 사랑을 듬뿍 받고 있다. 

 리는 지난해 LA 다저스 투수들을 상대로 35타수 12안타(0.343) 2타점을 올 려 비교적 강한 편이었지만 박찬호에게는 절대 약세였다.6타수 1안타에 타점 은 1개도 없었다.그래도 리를 조심해야 한다.애리조나 타선은 지난해 신생팀 의 한계를 벗어나지 못한 채 전반적으로 무기력한 편이었다. 

 그러나 올해는 상황이 다르다.마운드가 보강돼 타격도 나아질 전망이다.리 는 6일 개막전에서 케빈 브라운으로부터 총알같은 2루타를 뽑아 99시즌 첫 안타를 장식했다.첫 경기에서 6타수 2안타를 기록. 

 애리조나는 개막전에서 다소 응집력에 문제를 드러냈으나 지난해와는 다른 파과력을 과시했다.버나드 길키는 브라운을 연타석 홈런으로 두들겼다.박찬 호에게 통산 9타수 3안타를 기록하고 있는 제이 벨도 시즌 마수걸이 홈런을 뽑았다. 

 박찬호로서는 시범경기처럼 여유를 갖고 포볼허용을 줄이면서 위기관리능 력을 발휘하면 승산은 있는 경기다. 
 

6일(한국시각) 다저스타디움에서 벌어진 경기서 다저스는 9회말 2사까지 3대6으로 뒤졌으나, 몬데시가 동점 3점홈런을 친 데 이어 연장 11회말 2사후에도 끝내기 투런홈런까지 치는 대활약으로, 8대 6으로 이겼다. 

홈런왕 마크 맥과이어(세인트루이스 카디널스)도 밀워키 브루어 스와의 경기서 5회 우월 솔로홈런을 뿜어 신기록을 향해 힘찬 첫 발을 내디뎠다. 그러나 경기는 브루어스의 10대 8 승리. 

아메리칸리그에선 타이거스가 지난 해 서부지구 우승팀 텍사스 레인저스를 11대 5로 완파, 돌풍을 예고했다. 또 레드삭스는 페드 로 마르티네스의 역투 속에 13안타를 집중, 캔자스시티 로열스에 5 대3으로 역전승했다. 

한편 박찬호는 7일 오전 11시10분 다저스타디움서 벌어지는 다 이아몬드백스전에 등판한다. 상대 투수는 지난해 14승을 거둔 토드 스토틀 마이어.
