샌디에이고 박찬호(33)가 장 출혈 이후 17일 만에 선발등판했지만 폭투 때문에 패전의 멍에를 썼다.

박찬호는 12일(한국시간) 미닛 메이드 파크에서 열린 휴스턴과의 원정경기에 지난달 26일 LA 다저스전 이후 첫 선발등판했지만 5이닝 8안타 3탈삼진 3실점을 기록하며 시즌 7패(7승)째를 떠안았다. 

휴스턴 선발 앤디 페티트에게 허용한 홈런과 폭투가 뼈아팠다. 

박찬호는 샌디에이고가 2-1로 앞선 4회말 2사 후 페티트에게 초구 변화구를 던지다가 우월 동점 솔로포를 얻어맞았다. 페티트는 그동안 데뷔 이후 단 1개의 홈런도 없었던 터라 실투가 아쉬웠다. 박찬호는 스퀴즈 번트로 선취점을 내준 2회에도 페티트에게 좌전안타를 허용했었다. 

5회말은 더 큰 아쉬움을 남겼다. 박찬호는 5회 첫 타자 크렉 비지오에게 좌익선상 2루타를 얻어맞고 위기에 몰렸다. 그러나 랜스 버크만과 '천적' 아브레이 허프를 잘 처리한 뒤 2사 후 모간 엔스버그와 상대하던 중 폭투를 던져 3루 주자에게 재역전 점수를 내줬다. 

박찬호는 2-3으로 뒤진 6회말 구원투수인 존 애킨스와 교체됐다. 박찬호의 투구수는 86개(스트라이크 52개). 경기당 평균 자책점은 4.66이 됐다. 최고 구속은 93마일(150km)이 기록됐다. 

샌디에이고는 0-1로 뒤진 3회 1사 만루서 브라이언 자일스의 내야안타와 마이크 카메론의 희생플라이로 2점을 뽑아냈지만 더이상의 추가점은 없었다. 이후에는 철저히 페티트(7이닝 3안타 10탈삼진 2실점)와 휴스턴 불펜투수들에게 막혔다. 결국 2-4 패. 

박찬호 장출혈로 7월말 트레이드 모면

샌디에이고가 박찬호(33)의 트레이드를 추진하다 박찬호의 장출혈 증세 때문에 무산됐다는 보도가 나왔다. 

‘로키 마운틴 뉴스’는 12일(한국시간) 빅리그 '8월의 트레이드 마켓' 코너에서 샌디에이고가 지난달 말 박찬호의 트레이드를 시도했었다고 전했다. 

로키 마운틴 뉴스의 칼럼니스트 트레이시 링골스비는 이날 자신의 칼럼을 통해 샌디에이고가 박찬호를 내보내려고 했지만 박찬호가 갑자기 (장출혈에 따른) 빈혈증세를 보이며 긴급한 수혈을 필요로 하는 등 건강에 문제가 생겨 트레이드가 무산됐다고 밝혔다. 

링골스비는 샌디에이고가 박찬호의 트레이드를 어느 팀과 논의했는지는 언급하지 않았다. 링골스비는 샌디에이고가 트레이드를 꾀하면서 박찬호의 연봉(1,500만 달러) 잔여분까지 모두 넘기는 조건으로 일을 추진했다고 전했다. 샌디에이고가 박찬호의 연봉을 부담스러워했다는 의미다. 
 
후반기를 제2선발로 시작하며 샌디에이고 마운드의 주축투수로 대우받는 듯 했던 박찬호로서는 기분 좋은 얘기는 아니다. 

그러나 트레이드 루머는 단순한 구상이 수준이었을 수도 있다. 내셔널리그 서부지구 선두를 노리는 샌디에이고가 연봉 부담 때문에 후반기를 이끌 베테랑 투수를 내보내는게 쉽지 않기 때문이다. 오히려 돈을 떠나 포스트시즌에 대비한 베테랑 투수의 영입이 필요한 실정이다. 

박찬호의 트레이드가 논의됐다면 이미 포스트시즌을 포기한 팀 가운데 플레이오프 경험이 있는 베테랑투수였을 가능성이 높다.

Pettitte's homer off Chan Ho Park came two days after Roy Oswalt hit his first career homer in a 14-1 win over Pittsburgh. 

"It was nice, for one reason," Pettitte said. "Now, we don't have to listen to him too much." 
 
Oswalt retrieved his home-run ball from the fan who caught it, trading it for an autographed bat. He chided that he gave the fan one of Pettitte's bats because of how little they're used. 

The jokes can stop right there. 

"That was a dagger to the heart," a smiling Pettitte said of Oswalt's homer, "but now it's not anymore." 

After Pettitte homered in the fourth inning, Oswalt was the first Astro to greet Pettitte when he returned to the dugout. 

Like Oswalt on Wednesday, the fans held their standing ovation until Pettitte acknowledged them with a wave. While Oswalt hit his with a comfortable lead, Pettitte's drive tied Friday's game at 2-2. 

"Roy had a little more room to relax," Pettitte said. "The way the season's going and the way I've been throwing the ball, I had a lot more on my mind than a curtain call." 

But Pettitte (11-12) was untouchable after a rocky third inning and Craig Biggio doubled and scored the go-ahead run on Park's wild pitch in the fifth to help the Astros win for the eighth time in 10 games. Lance Berkman added a solo homer off San Diego's Alan Embree. 
 
Brad Lidge shut out the Padres in the ninth to earn his 26th save in 30 chances. 

Park (7-7) lasted five innings in his first start since being treated for intestinal bleeding with blood transfusions last week. Park allowed three runs and eight hits. He struck out three and walked two. 

"For the layoff and what he's gone through, he threw the ball well," said San Diego manager Bruce Bochy. "He had some bad luck. But overall, I thought he had good stuff." 

For the second time in 10 days, Pettitte turned in one of his best outings of the season against the Padres, who've lost four in a row and 10 of their last 14. 

Pettitte shut out San Diego with eight strikeouts in six innings in Houston's 1-0 win at Petco Park on Aug. 1. He retired the first six batters he faced Friday, striking out three. 

Brad Ausmus scored Adam Everett on a squeeze bunt to give Pettitte a 1-0 lead in the second. 

Everett led off with a triple after left fielder Ben Johnson couldn't make a diving catch in the corner. Ausmus, who had a pair of RBI singles in Thursday's 5-2 win over Pittsburgh, dropped a well-placed bunt between the mound and first base and Everett scored easily. 

The Padres got all three of their hits in the third. 

Mark Bellhorn and Johnson led off with singles and Josh Barfield walked to load the bases. Brian Giles then beat out a slow grounder that Berkman misplayed between first and second and Bellhorn scored the tying run. 

Mike Cameron followed with a sacrifice fly that sent center fielder Willy Taveras to the warning track. 
 
Pettitte fanned Mike Piazza to end the inning, then struck out Khalil Greene and Bellhorn in the fourth. Pettitte then delivered his biggest highlight in the bottom of the inning. 

With two outs, the career .118 hitter hammered Park's first pitch into the right-field seats. 

"I've been feeling real good at the plate, but seriously, I'm never up there trying to hit a home run," he said. "I just happened to run into one. I got lucky." 

Pettitte can't remember ever hitting a home run, even as a Little Leaguer. 

After the game, Pettitte met Sophie Belle Michael, the six-year-old girl who picked up the home-run ball when it hit her seat. Pettitte signed her baseball cap, gave her a bat and posed for pictures with the girl and her family. 

"That's pretty neat," Pettitte said. 

Biggio led off the fifth with a double to left and went to third on Berkman's groundout. Aubrey Huff flied out before Park threw a 2-0 pitch to Ensberg that hit the dirt and skipped over Piazza's shoulder, allowing Biggio to score. 

Pettitte retired the final 14 Padres he faced after Giles' single in the third. He struck out Adrian Gonzalez and Bellhorn in the seventh, matching his highest strikeout total since a 12-0 win over Florida on July 15. 

Embree started the seventh and Berkman led off by driving a 3-2 pitch into the left-field seats. Berkman's 31st homer was his fifth batting right-handed.

The Astros have won their last three series openers. ... Taveras singled to right in the first inning, extending his hitting streak to 14 games. Taveras also had two steals to raise his team-leading total to 19. ... Giles made a running catch on Ausmus' liner down the right-field line and ended up plunging headfirst into the first row. ... Pettitte has struck out 12 in a game on two occasions, the last in 2002.

부상자명단(DL)에서 돌아온 박찬호(33·샌디에이고 파드레스)가 부상후유증의 불안감 우려를 덜고 후반기 활약을 예고했다.

승리투수가 되지도 못했고 안타도 많이 맞았다. 하지만 부상 후 정상적인 활약을 펼칠 수 있을까에 대한 걱정을 씻어내기에는 충분했다. 경기전 "비어있던 자동차 연료탱크를 가득 채웠다"고 말한 것 처럼 구속도 90마일 이상을 꾸준히 찍었고 변화구도 각도와 제구력이 나쁘지 않았다.

물론 몸쪽으로 흐르는 투심패스트볼이 스트라이크로 인정받지 못하면서 다소 어려움을 겪기도 했다. 하지만 고비때마다 노련한 승부 운영으로 위기를 잘 넘겼다. 특히 바깥쪽으로 예리하게 휘는 슬라이더는 이날 박찬호의 주무기였다.

다만 아쉬운 점은 결정적 순간 실투가 그의 발목을 잡았다는 점. 박찬호는 1회 실점 이후 2,3회를 무실점으로 막았던 박찬호는 4회말 투수 앤디 페티트에게 솔로홈런을 맞고 동점을 허용했다. 변화구가 제대로 떨어지지 않고 가운데 몰리고 만 것. 이유가 방심이건 아니면 우연이건 분명한 실투였다.

5회말에도 박찬호는 2사 3루에서 포수 마이크 피아자의 앞을 원바운드된 뒤 뒤로 빠지는 폭투로 역전을 당했다. 결국 아쉬운 실투 2개가 곧바로 실점으로 연결된 셈이다. 체력적으로 완벽하지 않다보니 잘 던지다가도 집중력이 순간 떨어졌고 결정구가 제대로 구사되지 못했다.

샌디에이고 브루스 보치 감독 역시 박찬호의 체력적인 부분을 배려해 5회까지 투구수가 86개밖에 안됐지만 6회 조기에 구원투수를 투입했다.

비록 패했지만 이날 경기를 통해 박찬호는 다음 등판에서 더 좋은 모습을 보일 수 있는 바탕을 마련했다. 박찬호의 차기 선발등판은 오는 17일 샌프란시스코 자이언츠와의 경기가 될 가능성이 높다. 박찬호는 지난 달 21일 샌프란시스코를 상대로 7승에 도전했지만 6이닝 5안타 5실점으로 패전투구가 된 바 있다.

지난 달 26일 등판후 16일만에 마운드에 오른 박찬호는 MLB.com과의 인터뷰에서 "체인지업이 잘 들어갔다. 하지만 변화구는 움직임이 별로 좋지 않았다"고 자신의 공에 대해 느낌을 전했다.

박찬호는 "당초 예정된 이닝보다 더 던지고 싶다는 생각이 들었다. 몸상태가 좋다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다"며 부상후 제 컨디션을 회복했다는 것이 큰 의미를 둔 모습이었다. 특히 "조만간에 100%의 몸상태를 만들 수 있을 것"이라며 후반기 남은 시즌 활약에 대한 강한 자신감을 피력했다.

지난 달 29일 콜로라도 원정 도중 오전 심한 복통과 피로감을 호소했던 박찬호는 정밀진단 결과 장내 출혈이 발생한 것으로 밝혀져 수혈과 철분 투여 등의 치료를 받아왔다. 특히 박찬호가 수혈받았던 혈액이 팀동료 제이크 피비의 아내 것으로 밝혀지면서 애틋한 동료애가 화제되기도 했다.
 

한편, 박찬호의 차기 선발등판은 오는 17일 샌프란시스코 자이언츠와의 홈경기가 될 전망이다. 상대 선발은 좌완 노아 로우리가 될 가능성이 높다. (마이데일리)

장출혈로 부상자 명단(DL)에 오른 탓에 두 차례 등판을 걸렀던 박찬호는 12일(이하 한국시간) 미닛 메이드 파크에서 열린 휴스턴 원정경기에 시즌 20번째로 선발 등판, 5이닝 동안 8안타(1홈런)나 맞고 2볼넷 3실점했다. 

샌디에이고는 2-4로 패해 시즌 4연패에 빠졌다. LA 다저스에 빼앗긴 내셔널리그(NL) 서부지구 1위 탈환도 일단 무산됐다.

NL 투수 연봉 랭킹 1위(앤디 페티트, 1600만 달러)와 2위(박찬호, 1550만 달러)의 선발 대결이었던 이날 경기에서 박찬호의 주무기인 투심 패스트볼은 꾸준히 80마일대 후반~90마일대 초반을 찍었다. 슬라이더나 커브 등 변화구를 섞어 던지는 패턴 역시 여전했다. 그러나 DL 이전과는 달리 컨트롤이 신통치 않았다. 5회말 2사 3루에서 패전의 빌미가 된 3실점째도 폭투로 내줬다. 

또 5회까지 매 이닝 안타를 맞고 주자를 출루시켰다. 2회말 선제 실점에 이어 2-1로 앞서던 4회에는 투수 페티트에게 우월 동점 솔로홈런을 맞았다. 페티트는 박찬호에게서 2타수 2안타를 뽑아냈다. 아울러 7이닝 동안 삼진 10개를 잡아내며 2실점, 시즌 11승(12패)째를 거뒀다. 

박찬호가 제 구위를 발휘하지 못하자 브루스 보치 샌디에이고 감독은 5이닝만에 교체를 선택했다. 6회부터 존 아드킨스가 마운드를 이어받았다. 박찬호의 투구수는 86구였고 스트라이크는 52구였다. 3실점이 모두 자책점이라 평균자책점은 4.66으로 약간 나빠졌다.
