박찬호는 25일 샌디에이고 펫코파크에서 벌어진 미국프로야구 시애틀과 인터리그 홈경기에 선발 등판, 5이닝 동안 3홈런 포함 7피안타 5실점(4자책)한 뒤 1-5로 뒤진 5회 타석에서 마크 벨혼으로 교체됐다.

샌디에이고가 5-9로 패하면서 박찬호는 시즌 4패(5승)째를 안았다. 지난 3일 피츠버그전부터 이어오던 3연승 행진도 이날 끝났고 평균자책점은 4.15에서 4.31로 나빠졌다.

시애틀은 지난달 평균자책점 3점대를 달리던 박찬호에게 10실점의 수모를 안긴데 이어 이날도 박찬호의 연승 행진을 저지하면서 두 번이나 그의 발목을 잡았다.

이날 투구수는 96개, 스트라이크는 58개였다. 최고구속은 150㎞. 삼진은 5개를 잡았고 볼넷은 2개를 내줬다. 올 시즌 한 경기 피홈런 3개는 처음이다.

5월22일 시애틀전에서 5⅓이닝 10실점으로 패전의 멍에를 썼던 박찬호는 이날 복수를 다짐했으나 조지마에게 연타석 홈런을 맞고 '천적' 1명을 더 만들고 말았다.

박찬호는 1회 시작부터 톱타자 스즈키 이치로와 애드리언 벨트레를 각각 좌전안타와 머리에 맞는 볼로 내보내며 무사 1,2루에 몰렸다.

그러나 중심타선인 호세 로페스를 좌익수 뜬공으로 처리한 뒤 라울 이바녜스를 삼진, 리치 섹슨을 유격수 땅볼로 잡아내고 무실점으로 이닝을 마쳤다.

2회를 삼자범퇴로 넘긴 박찬호는 1-0으로 앞서던 3회 2사 후 벨트레에게 좌월 2루타를 맞은 뒤 후속 로페스의 타구를 잡은 유격수 칼리어 그린의 1루 악송구로 아쉽게 첫 실점했다.

4회에는 1사 후 일본인 포수 조지마 겐지에게 143㎞ 초구 직구를 던졌다가 좌월솔로포를 허용했다. 이어 제레미 리드를 스트레이트 볼넷으로 내보낸 뒤 2사 2루에서 투수 제이미 모이어에게 우전 적시타를 맞고 3점째를 내줬다.

가장 뼈아픈 건 5회였다. 박찬호는 1사 후 지난번 3점포를 얻어 맞은 이바녜스에게 또다시 중월 솔로포를 허용한 데 이어 조지마에게 똑같이 초구 143㎞ 직구를던졌다가 좌측 펜스를 훌쩍 넘어가는 홈런을 내줬다.

조지마는 이날 5타수4안타 4타점으로 펄펄 날았다. 2회 마이크 피아자의 선제 솔로포로 앞섰던 샌디에이고는 상대 선발 모이어를집중 공략하는 데 실패했고 이후 솔로포 3방 등으로 4점을 만회하는 데 그쳤다.

Seattle and San Diego combined for a ballpark-record eight home runs, with Ibanez and Kenji Johjima hitting two solo shots apiece in the Mariners' 9-5 victory over the Padres. 

"In fact the wind was blowing in and I didn't think things were going to fly," Ibanez said. 

Jamie Moyer (5-6) allowed two runs and four hits in seven solid innings and had an RBI single, improving to 16-7 in interleague play. 
 
Mike Piazza, Ben Johnson, Eric Young and Mike Cameron homered for the Padres. 

Both of Johjima's homers, his seventh and eighth, came off Chan Ho Park (5-4) on first pitches and highlighted two-run innings in the fourth and fifth. Johjima added a two-run double in the ninth for a career high four RBIs. 

Ibanez homered off Park in the fifth, and added his 16th of the season off reliever Brian Sikorski in the seventh. 

"I was missing location with my fast ball," Park said. "The base hit from the pitcher hurt me a little bit along with the three home runs. I threw two fast balls hit for home runs hit on the first pitch." 

The 43-year-old Moyer's hit came in the fourth and gave the Mariners a 3-1 lead. It was a single to right that scored Jeremy Reed after Johjima hit his first homer earlier in the inning. 

"Every squirrel finds a nut," Moyer said of his first hit and first RBI since June 18, 2004, at Pittsburgh. 

The Mariners built their lead to 5-1 with two runs in the fifth with Ibanez hitting his 15th home run, a 412-foot shot into the Padres bullpen in center and Johjima following one out later with his second of the night into the left-field bleachers. 
 
Four of Johjima's eight home runs have come against the Padres. It was the rookie's first multiple homer game. 

Ibanez completed his fifth multihomer game with his 16th in the seventh to make it 6-2 after Johnson hit his homer in the bottom of the sixth. 

Piazza gave the Padres a 1-0 lead in the second with his 10th home run, a 401-foot blast into the third deck of the Western Metals Supply Co. building in left. 

"I guess it's a hitters ballpark," Moyer joked. "Solo (homers) are really killers the way I look at it. I didn't think I threw as well as I did the last outing (one run in eight innings against the Giants). But I got outs when I needed them." 

Eddie Guardado, who came on to relieve Moyer in the eighth was greeted by back-to-back homers by pinch-hitter Young and Cameron to pull the Padres to 6-4. 

Seattle added three runs in the ninth on Richie Sexson's RBI single and Johjima's double. Johjima finished with a career high four-for-five and four RBIS. 

"We made a lot of mistakes to him tonight," Padres manager Bruce Bochy said. "We threw quite a few balls right in his wheel house. Give him credit. He's not missing them." 

However, Johjima suffered a bruised left quad when he took a batted ball just above his shin guard from the bat of Johnson. Johjima is listed as day-to-day. 

The Padres had opened the bottom of the ninth with four straight singles off J.J. Putz, the last by Josh Barfield to make it 9-5. However, Putz then struck out Josh Bard, Mike Cameron and Johnson with the bases loaded to end the game.

Piazza has 407 career homers, tying him for 40th on the all-time list with Duke Snider. ... The previous record for most home runs in a game at Petco Park was seven done twice, once on July 2, 2004 against Kansas City (Royals 2, Padres 5) and May 4, 2005 vs. Colorado in 12 innings (Rockies 3, Padres 4). ... The last time a Mariners pitcher had a hit and an RBI in the same game was Gil Meche on June 24th last year against the Padres at Petco Park. Moyer's last hit was a two-run single on June 18, 2004 ... 1B Sexson went 1-for-5 and is 2-20 against the Padres this season. ... Moyer has pitched into the sixth inning in 15 of his 16 starts. ... Park is 0-2 with a 12.20 ERA in two games against the Mariners this year.

이승엽은 25일 나고야돔에서 벌어진 일본프로야구 주니치 드래곤스전에서 0-1로뒤진 3회 2사 1루의 두 번째 타석에서 상대 좌완 선발투수 루이스 마르티네스의 몸쪽 낮은 직구를 잡아당겨 우선상 2루타를 터뜨렸다. 시즌 13번째 2루타.

지난 11일 지바 롯데전 이후 12경기 연속 안타를 이어간 이승엽은 계속된 2사 2,3루에서 후속 조 딜런의 중전 적시타 때 홈을 밟았다. 시즌 59득점째.

이승엽은 1회 2사 3루의 선취점 찬스에서는 스트레이트 볼넷을 얻어내 출루했다.

6회 1루 땅볼로 물러난 이승엽은 4-5로 따라붙은 7회 2사 1루에서는 중견수 뜬공에 그쳐 아쉬움을 줬다. 3타수 1안타로 타율은 0.335(269타수90안타)를 유지했다.

최근 프로답지 못한 플레이가 연발하고 있는 요미우리는 이날도 3루수 딜런의 어이없는 실책이 빌미가 돼 6연패 수렁에서 헤맸다.

2-2이던 4회 2사 2루에서 상대 투수 마르티네스의 타구를 잡은 딜런은 1루로 송구하지 않고 3루로 뛰던 2루 주자를 협살로 잡으려다 주자와 충돌, 주루 방해 실수를 범했다.

힘이 빠진 요미우리 선발 우에하라 고지는 계속된 2사 1,3루에서 내야 안타와 3루타를 연달아 얻어 맞고 3실점하면서 경기 분위기를 주니치에 내줬다.

이승엽, 시즌 24호 홈런..`50홈런 보인다` 
 
이승엽(30.요미우리 자이언츠)이 시즌 24호 대포를 쏘아올리며 인터리그 홈런왕(16개) 기세를 이어갔다.

이승엽은 이틀간 짧은 휴식 후 23일 나고야돔에서 재개된 일본프로야구 센트럴리그 선두 주니치 드래곤스와 방문 경기에서 1-4로 뒤진 4회 선두 타자로 나와 상대우완 선발투수 가와카미 겐신의 초구 바깥쪽 커브를 잡아 당겨 우중간 펜스를 넘어가는 솔로포를 터뜨렸다.

홈런과 타점 모두 지난 18일 라쿠텐전 이후 3경기 만에 나온 것으로 홈런은 시즌 24호, 타점은 53타점째다. 비거리는 120ｍ.

가와카미는 전날까지 리그 다승(8승1패), 탈삼진(91개), 평균자책점(1.35) 1위를 달리고 있던 최정상급 투수다. 올해는 4타수 무안타, 1삼진으로 막혔지만 이승엽은 보기 좋게 설욕에 성공했다.

68경기 만에 24호 홈런을 터뜨린 이승엽은 올 시즌 50홈런 기대를 더욱 부풀렸다.

교도통신은 전날 2002년 50홈런을 터뜨린 마쓰이 히데키(현 뉴욕 양키스)가 84경기만에 23호 홈런을 터뜨렸는데 이승엽은 그보다 무려 17경기나 페이스가 빠르다고 소개했다.

이어 2001년과 2002년 54개의 홈런을 터뜨렸던 로즈(당시 긴테쓰.63경기 23홈런), 카브레라(당시 세이부.67경기 23홈런)보다는 늦지만 일본프로야구 홈런 신기록을 꿈꿔볼만 하다며 이승엽의 힘을 북돋았다. 이승엽은 이날 1회에는 1사 1,3루의 찬스에서 가와카미의 2구 바깥쪽 낮게 떨어지는 커브를 잡아당겨 1,2루 간을 빠져나가는 우전 안타로 선제타점을 올렸다.

지난 11일 지바 롯데전부터 10경기 연속 안타. 시즌 52,53타점째를 연속으로 올리며 이날 팀 득점을 모두 해결했다.

6회에는 풀카운트 접전 끝에 유격수 땅볼, 9회에는 2루 땅볼로 아웃됐다.

4타수 2안타로 시즌 타율은 0.333에서 0.336(262타수88안타)으로 약간 올랐다.
