Goals Scored: PIRLO Andrea (ITA) 81'

Match Summary:
A fast paced and physical first half saw both teams create good chances without scoring. The Italians shaded the majority of possesion but were unsettled by some robust Australian tackling. Match Summary:
Outsider Honduras got well into the game and took the Atlanta gold medalists by surprise when their star forward David Suazo put them into the lead. Nigeria came back shortly after the half-time break but never looked is if they were to take over. After Leon's 2-1 on the hour and David Suazo's second goal fifteen minutes from the end, the Central Americas looked set to stage a surprise. However, the defending champions worked yet another miracle by coming back in the last phase of the match. Substitute Agali and, in the dying seconds, Yakubu with a brilliant long-range blast saved the Super Eagles from a disappointing start into the tournament.

Match Summary:
10-man Morocco had the better of the first half with their fast-paced counter- attacking game, yet went into the break 0-2 down after a header and penalty from Zamorano. Shortly after the break, Zamorano side-footed home a low cross from the right, before winning a second penalty, which Navia converted. Ouchla pulled a late goal back for Morocco, but despite good chances they could not score again.

9/13[05] ¹Ì±¹ vs. üÄÚ = 2 : 2
Goals Scored: ALBRIGHT Chris (USA) 21' , JANKULOVSKI Marek (CZE) 28' , WOLFF Josh (USA) 44' , DOSEK Lukas (CZE) 52', pen.

Match Summary:
The US team largely dominated the first half with an outstanding Josh Wolff taking on the Czech defence time and again. Albright's goal on alow cross by Wolff gave the Americans the well-deserved lead. The Czechs, however, came back soon after when their centre-forward Jankulovski curved around four Americans defenders to beat Friedel for the equaliser. One minute before the break Wolff put the Americans again ahead but only seven minutes into the second half the Czechs were level again when Lukas Dosek converted a penalty. Both teams continued to show their attacking skills but neither could capitalise on the numerous opportunities in the last 30 minutes.

Match Summary:
Cameroon took the early initiative against a jittery Kuwaiti side, but took 37 minutes before getting a deserved goal - Alnoudji scoring with a powerful header. Kuwait who were playing for time, surprised with a 63rd minute equaliser, springing the offside trap to score through substitute Al Mutairi. Cameroon had a great chance to regain the lead but Mboma wasted the chance, only to make up for it a minute later by easily sliding in the ball. Kuwait's Abdulrahman then let Etame slip a ball in only to make amends a minute later by finding the other net!

Goals Scored: PORAZIK Andrej (SVK) 26' , EDU (BRA) 30' , FABIO AURELIO (BRA) 68' , ALEX (BRA) 91'

Match Summary:
Slovakia took a shock lead with Porazik's goal, sliding home a square cross. But the advantage lasted only for four minutes before Edu weaved his way through to score the equaliser. Brazil were not as impressive as their pre-match reputation and Ronaldinho should have gotten a red for cynical foul just as the ref called half-time. But they dominated in the second half and got a deserved winner, albeit an own goal off of Facio Aurelio's cross, and a late third from captain Alex.

Goals Scored: NOMVETHE Siyabonga (RSA) 31' , TAKAHARA Naohiro (JPN) 46'+ , TAKAHARA Naohiro (JPN) 79'

Match Summary:
21-year old Naohiro Takahara was the man of the match as he secured Japan's victory over South Africa with one goal in each half as well as several missed opportunities. In an interesting encounter between two talented sides, South Africa took the lead after half an hour with a Nomvethe header beautifully set up by Benny McCarthy. Takahara had two good long-range shots before he was rewarded with the equalising header. just before half-time. The Bafana Bafana came close to scoring again early in the second half but Takahara's winner sealed the three points for Japan.
