▶ 돕 사람 Ishtob. [Ish'tob]

A state which supplied 12,000 men to the children of Ammon to fight against David. 2 Sam. 10:6, 8. In the margin it reads 'men of TOB.' It was to 'the land of Tob' that Jephthah fled from his brethren. Judges 11:3, 5. It is supposed to be on the east of Jebel Hauran.

(삼하10:6,8 6 암몬 자손이 자기가 다윗에게 미움이 된 줄 알고 사람을 보내어 벧르홉 아람 사람과 소바 아람 사람의 보병 이만과 마아가 왕과 그 사람 일천과 돕 사람 일만 이천을 고용한지라 6 And when the children of Ammon saw that they stank before David, the children of Ammon sent and hired the Syrians of Bethrehob, and the Syrians of Zoba, twenty thousand footmen, and of king Maacah a thousand men, and of Ishtob twelve thousand men. / 8 암몬 자손은 나와서 성문 어귀에 진을 쳤고 소바와 르홉 아람 사람과 돕과 마아가 사람들은 따로 들에 있더라 8 And the children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array at the entering in of the gate: and the Syrians of Zoba, and of Rehob, and Ishtob, and Maacah, [were] by themselves in the field.

(삿11:3,5 3 이에 입다가 그 형제를 피하여 돕 땅에 거하매 잡류가 그에게로 모여와서 그와 함께 출입하였더라 3 Then Jephthah fled from his brethren, and dwelt in the land of Tob: and there were gathered vain men to Jephthah, and went out with him. / 5 암몬 자손이 이스라엘을 치려 할 때에 길르앗 장로들이 입다를 데려오려고 돕 땅에 가서 5 And it was so, that when the children of Ammon made war against Israel, the elders of Gilead went to fetch Jephthah out of the land of Tob:
