- 동남아시아의 주요 고고유적의 하나로 산림지역을 포함 약 400Km2에 달함  
- 앙코르는 9세기부터 15세기까지 크메르제국의 수도였으며 그 유명한 앙코르 와트를 포함하여 수많은 조각 장식으로 이름난 배이용사원등 많은 장대한 유적이 남아 있음  
- 유네스코는 이 상징적인 유적들을 보호하기 위하여 광범위한 프로그램을 세워 지원하고 있음

Angkor is one of the most important archaeological sites in South-East Asia. Stretching over some 400 km2, including forested area, Angkor Archaeological Park contains the magnificent remains of the different capitals of the Khmer Empire, from the 9th to the 15th century. They include the famous Temple of Angkor Wat and, at Angkor Thom, the Bayon Temple with its countless sculptural decorations. UNESCO has set up a wide-ranging programme to safeguard this symbolic site and its surroundings.
