박찬호는 6일(한국시간) 샌디에이고 펫코파크에서 벌어진 미국프로야구  시카고 컵스와의 홈경기에 선발 등판해 9이닝 동안 삼진 4개를 곁들이며 안타 2개, 볼넷  4개, 무실점으로 막았다. 

박찬호는 0-0으로 맞선 연장 10회초 트레버 호프만에게 마운드를 넘기고 승패없이 물러나 홈경기 첫 승이자 시즌 2승째가 아쉽게 무산됐다. 

이날 던진 121개의 공 가운데 69개를 스트라이크존에 꽂아넣은 박찬호는 방어율을 4.12(종전 5.34)로 대폭 끌어내리는 데 만족해야 했다. 여전히 시즌 1승1패. 

샌디에이고는 연장 11회말 1사 2루에서 조시 바필드의 끝내기 안타로 1-0  승리를 거두며 박찬호의 호투를 헛되지 않게했다. 

샌디에이고는 파죽의 6연승. 연장 11회초 1사 2루에서 마운드에 오른 4번째  투수 스콧 캐서디가 어부지리로 승리투수가 됐다. 

박찬호가 9이닝 무실점 경기를 한 것은 LA 다저스 시절인 2001년 7월19일  밀워키 브루어스와의 홈경기에서 5-0 완봉승을 거둔 이래 약 5년 만이고,  가장  가까운 완투승도 2001년 8월25일 애틀랜타전으로 거슬러 올라간다. 

지난달 25일 애리조나전에서도 8⅔이닝 동안 4실점하며 완투에 근접했던 박찬호는 이날 호투로 5년 만에 완투형 투수로 회귀 가능성을 높이며 브루스 보치  감독의 확실한 믿음을 얻은 것으로 보인다. 

투심과 포심 패스트볼을 앞세워 올시즌 땅볼 투수로 거듭난 박찬호는 이날 주포 데릭 리가 빠진 컵스 타선을 꽁꽁 봉쇄, 홈 경기 첫 승 기대를 부풀렸다. 

하지만 삼진 무려 10개를 뽑아내며 맞불을 놓은 상대 선발 카를로스 삼브라노에 눌린 팀 타선이 야속하기만 했다. 

박찬호는 1회 몸이 덜풀린 듯 후안 피에르에게 볼넷을 내주며 불안하게  출발했지만 다음 타자 프레디 바이넘을 병살타로 엮은 뒤 강타자 토드 워커를 헛스윙 삼진으로 잡고 기세를 올렸다. 

낮게 낮게 제구되는 위력적인 공으로 2,3,4회를 모조리 삼자 범퇴로 막은  박찬호는 5회 2사 뒤 자크 존스에게 이날의 첫 안타를 내줬다. 1회 첫 타자  볼넷  이후 무려 13타자를 연속 아웃으로 돌려세운 셈. 

박찬호는 다음 타자 제리 헤어스턴 주니어와 상대 할 때 폭투를 범하며 2사 2루로 실점 위기를 맞았으나 헤어스턴을 좌익수 뜬공으로 잡고 이닝을 마무리했다. 

안타성 타구를 잡아준 2루수 조시 바필드의 도움 속에 6회를 삼자 범퇴로  끝낸 박찬호는 7회 역시 상대 4번타자 아라미스 라미레스를 헛스윙 삼진으로  돌려세우는등 세 타자를 가볍게 요리. 

8회 선두타자 마이클 배럿에게 2번째 안타를 내준 박찬호는 2사  3루에서  후속 타자들을 고의 4구와 볼넷으로 내보내며 2사 만루의 최대 위기에 몰렸지만 다음  타자 피에르를 땅볼로 침착하게 잡고 위기를 벗어났다. 

투구 수가 110개에 달한 9회에도 마운드에 오른 박찬호는 2사 뒤  라미레스에게 볼넷을 내줬지만 후속 배럿에게 150㎞에 달하는 직구를 뿌리며 이닝을  마무리했다. 

득점 찬스를 번번이 놓친 샌디에이고 타선은 9회말 비니 카스티야의 몸에  맞는 공, 상대 좌익수 바이넘의 어이 없는 실책으로 만든 2사 1,2루의 찬스도 살리지  못하며 끝내 박찬호의 호투에 화답하지 않았다. 

한편 박찬호는 타석에서도 7회 1사에서 보내기 번트를 깔끔하게 성공시키며  탄탄한 기본기를 뽐냈다.

박찬호, 역대 15번째 2피안타 경기  
 
6일 시카고 컵스전에 개인 통산 258번째 선발등판(총등판은 306번)한 박찬호(33.샌디에이고)는 타선의 도움을 받지 못해 아쉽게 완봉승을 놓쳤지만 자신의 경력에 또 하나의 기록을 추가했다. 

 이날 박찬호는 9이닝 동안 단 2안타만 내주며 호투해 자신의 역대 15번째 '2피안타 경기'를 기록했다. 

 1996년부터 풀타임 메이저리거로 활약한 박찬호가 선발로 나서 5이닝 이상 던진 경기에서 2안타만 허용한 경우는 지난해까지 14번 있었다. 

 LA 다저스 유니폼을 입었던 1997년 뉴욕 메츠전에서 7이닝 동안 2안타만 내준것을 시작으로 텍사스 시절이던 지난 2004년 시애틀전에서 7이닝 2피안타를 기록한게 마지막이었다. 

 박찬호는 자신의 14번의 역대 2안타 경기 중 12승 1패를 마크했다. 승패 없이 물러난 것은 1997년 4월10일 뉴욕 메츠전과 이날 등판 등 두 번이다. 

 박찬호가 5회 이상을 던지며 안타를 한 개만 내준 경기도 4번 있었다. 

 1996년 플로리다전(5이닝), 같은해 세인트루이스전(5이닝), 2000년 신시내티전 (5이닝)과 밀워키전 (8이닝)이었고 모두 승을 거머쥐었다.

Two teams headed in different directions meet for the first time this season when the streaking San Diego Padres welcome the stumbling Chicago Cubs on Friday in the start of a four-game series at Petco Park. 

San Diego (13-15) looks to extend its season-high winning streak to six games while Chicago (14-13) will try to avoid its fourth straight loss and sixth in seven games. 

The Padres are 1-10 in their last 11 home meetings with the Cubs, and have been outscored 60-25. 
 
But San Diego is coming off consecutive two-game road sweeps over NL West rivals San Francisco and Los Angeles. This was after San Diego had won consecutive games only twice en route to a 9-15 April record. 

The Padres haven't won six in a row overall since May 26-31. 

Shortstop Khalil Greene's eighth-inning homer provided all the offense, and Craig Hensley and two relievers combined on a two-hitter Friday in San Diego's 3-0 win over the Dodgers. 

Greene, who had four homers in his first six games this year, snapped a 20-game drought with his first since hitting two on April 9 against Colorado. He leads the Padres with five. 

During its current run, San Diego has allowed just 17 runs and limited opponents to a .187 batting average. Chan Ho Park, who has played in the American League for most of the last four years, will try to keep the Padres' winning ways going. 

Park is 8-4 with a 3.44 ERA in 16 games, including 11 starts against the Cubs, but has not beaten them since Sept. 3, 1999 when he was with the Dodgers. He got a no-decision in his last start Sunday against his Los Angeles, allowing five runs and three walks -- both season-highs -- with six hits in a 6-5 win. 

The victory started San Diego's current winning streak. 

Chicago has been shut out in three of its last five games, including a 6-0 defeat Thursday to Arizona. The Cubs' anemic offense has been outscored 45-5 in their last six games. 

"We're just in a bad way right now," Chicago manager Dusty Baker said. "We can't seem to buy a run. You go through periods like that. It sure makes it tough. It doesn't make life very pleasurable when you're not scoring." 

Juan Pierre tallied three of Chicago's eight hits, but former Cubs hurler Juan Cruz allowed four hits, walked two and fanned seven over five innings to get the win. 

Chicago will start struggling Carlos Zambrano (0-2, 5.35 ERA) in an attempt to stop the slide. He is 4-0 against San Diego with a 2.67 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 30 1-3 innings in five starts. 

This is the deepest into a season in which the 24-year-old Zambrano has gone winless. He had two wins after six starts in 2005. 

"I still have a long way to go," Zambrano said. "I think I have to work on my command." 

The right-hander gave up seven runs, eight hits and walked five through four innings of Chicago's 9-0 loss to Milwaukee on Sunday. It was the third time this season the Cubs failed to score a run in support of Zambrano and they have only scored just nine for him all season. 

"Quite frankly, I want the animated, demonstrative, angry 'Z' to return to tell you the truth, because this new calm 'Z' (is not) working, so we want the old 'Z' back," Baker said.
