박찬호는 11일(이하 한국시간) 미국 샌디에이고 펫코 파크에서 벌어진 메이저리그 밀워키 브루어스와 홈경기에 선발투수로 나와 6이닝을 산발 7안타 무실점으로 틀어막고 3-0으로 앞선 7회 마운드를 넘겼다. 

98개 투구 가운데 스트라이크는 64개였고 볼넷 1개와 몸에 맞는 볼 2개를 내주며 삼진은 4개 솎아냈다. 

박찬호는 시즌 2승1패를 기록했고 방어율은 종전 4.12에서 3.57으로 끌어내렸다. 

특히 지난 6일 시카고 컵스와 홈경기에서 9이닝을 실점 없이 막은 데 이어 이날까지 모두 15이닝 무실점 행진을 이어갔다. 

박찬호는 이번에도 밀워키에 강했다. 이날 경기 전까지 9차례 밀워키전에 선발등판에서 6승무패에 방어율 2.36을 기록하고 있었다. 

이닝마다 주자를 내보냈지만 거리낌 없는 정면승부로 시원시원하게 경기를 풀어갔다. 

박찬호는 1회 선두타자 리키 위크스를 몸에 맞는 볼로 내보냈지만 후속 빌 홀을중견수 플라이로 잡은 뒤 지오프 젠킨스와 카를로스 리를 삼진으로 요리했다. 

2회 2사 후 대미언 밀러와 브래디 클라크에게 연속 안타를 맞아 1, 2루 위기에놓였으나 투수 크리스 카푸노를 2루 땅볼을 잡아냈다. 

박찬호는 3회에도 2사 후에 젠킨스에게 중전안타를 내줘 주자를 내보냈지만 4번타자 리를 중견수 플라이로 막고 무실점 투구를 이어갔다. 

여전히 0-0이던 4회에는 2사 1루에서 클라크에게 1루수 키를 넘는 빗맞은 안타를 맞았다. 하지만 클라크가 욕심을 내 2루로 뛰다가 협살에 걸렸고 그 사이 홈으로달려들던 주자 코스키가 태그 아웃돼 위기를 넘겼다. 

박찬호의 방망이가 한 몫을 한 때도 있었다. 

샌디에이고는 4회말 1사 1, 2루에서 조시 바드가 우익수 오른쪽으로 깊숙이 빠지는 주자일소 2루타를 날려 2-0으로 달아났다. 

후속타자 박찬호는 우익수 앞에 뚝 떨어지는 바가지 안타를 날려 1, 3루로 기회를 연결, 상대 선발투수 카푸노를 흔들었다. 후속 에릭 영은 카푸노에게 1타점 우전안타를 뽑아 리드를 3-0으로 늘렸다. 

박찬호는 6회 무사 1루에서 후속 프린스 필더에게 라인드라이브를 맞았다. 타구는 원바운드처럼 우익수의 글러브로 빨려들었지만 주심이 아웃을 선언, 볼은 바로 1루로 송구됐고 더블플레이가 만들어졌다. 

박찬호는 2사후 코스키에게 몸에 맞는 볼을 내준 뒤 대미언 밀러에게 안타를 맞아 1, 2루 위기에 놓였지만 클라크를 유격수 땅볼로 잡고 실점을 피했다. 

샌디에이고는 6회말 공격에서 마이크 피아자를 박찬호의 대타로 내보냈다. 

마운드를 이어받은 스콧 캐시디와 트레버 호프만이 리드를 고스란히 지켜 샌디에이고는 3-0으로 이겼다.

Park had another strong outing, and Bard hit a two-run double and made a nice defensive play to lead the Padres to their 10th victory in 11 games, 3-0 over the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday night. 

The victory came a night after the Padres had their nine-game winning streak ended by the Brewers. 

Park scattered seven hits in six innings, running his scoreless innings streak to 15 and winning for the first time in four starts. Park (2-1) pitched nine scoreless innings in his previous start, but it took the Padres 11 innings before they beat the Chicago Cubs 1-0 on Friday, leaving him with a second straight no-decision. 

"He's throwing the ball great," Bard said. "I would give the credit to him. He's been doing a great job of pounding the strike zone. He's been a pleasure to work with. The biggest thing I'm trying to do is just make him believe that he's got great stuff, because he does have great stuff." 
 
Bard had 10 passed balls catching Wakefield before he was traded from Boston to San Diego on May 1 for Doug Mirabelli. 

Park improved to 7-0 lifetime against Milwaukee. He struck out four and walked one. 

Park credited outfielders Mike Cameron and Brian Giles for making great catches. "And also, I had a good catcher back there calling the right pitches, so that helps and makes me more comfortable and confident," Park said. 

Trevor Hoffman, who took the loss Tuesday night, pitched the ninth for his sixth save in six chances. Hoffman is second on the career saves list with 442, 36 behind Lee Smith. 

Brewers lefty Chris Capuano (4-3) struck out six in six innings but had his personal three-game winning streak snapped. 

Bard came up big in both the top and bottom of the fourth. 

With two out and the Brewers' Corey Koskie on first, Brady Clark hit a fly into shallow right that landed just beyond first baseman Mark Bellhorn. Koskie reached third, and, seeing Clark starting to go to second, headed home. Bard took the throw from shortstop Khalil Greene and was bowled over as he tagged Koskie, but held onto the ball.

Bard didn't think the play fired up his team. 

"Our team's focused and trying to go out there and play good baseball regardless of whether someone's trying to run you over," he said. "That's the key for us to grind this out for 162 games." 

Cameron raced to the center-field fence to catch a drive by Bill Hall in the fifth, and Giles made a sliding catch of Prince Fielder's sinking liner in the sixth, then doubled Carlos Lee off first. 

"We smoked about 10 balls at them," Brewers manager Ned Yost said. "They made great plays in the outfield. We just didn't have anything to show for it. They did a great job defensively." 

Said Bard: "I can't say enough about what Cam is doing out in center field. I mean, he's saving us from a ton of runs and a ton of big innings. Right now he's an underappreciated guy on this team. The plays he's making, I mean, it's the equivalent of driving in three or four runs a game." 

Bard doubled down the right-field line with one out in the fourth to score Greene, who hit a leadoff single, and Josh Barfield, who walked with one out. After Park singled, Bard scored on Eric Young's single to right. 

Capuano allowed three runs and six hits. He struck out six and walked three.

Actor Bill Murray visited the Padres clubhouse with former Cy Young winner Rick Sutcliffe after the game. When Sutcliffe introduced Murray to Mark Bellhorn, who was seated, the actor hugged the infielder tightly and the two tumbled onto the ground. "You were a Cub!" Murray said. ... Bellhorn struck out four times. ... Fielder, the Brewers' rookie 1B, was back in the lineup. He sat out Tuesday night due to the groin tightness that forced him out of Sunday's game at Los Angeles. ... The Brewers recalled LHP Dana Eveland from Triple-A Nashville after placing Ben Sheets on the 15-day disabled list because of tendinitis in his right shoulder. Eveland is scheduled to start Saturday night at home against the New York Mets. ... Padres manager Bruce Bochy is giving C Mike Piazza two games off, although he pinch hit Wednesday night. Rookie Rob Bowen is scheduled to start Thursday and catch ace Jake Peavy. Piazza is scheduled to start Friday at the Chicago Cubs.
