A testing machine for generation of defined damage on car components caused by gri impact

Damage to the surface protection of a suspension spring caused by grit impact

Technical Specification:

- Components: Suspension springs, stabilizer bars, other suspension and under body components, paintwork of bodysheet, wear of glass components
- Peen material: Grit, pebbles, gravel up to 15 mm diameter, sand, shot of all types of material
- Speed of discharge: v = 20 to 140 km/h, continuously adjustable
- Discharge unit is movable over the complete length; vertically adjustable
- Frequency of specimen rotation; f = 0.5 or 1.0 Hz
- Amount of the peening material discharged per time unit is continuously adjustable
- Weight without control panel: app. 800 Kg
- Dimension without control panel: L=2,300mm, W=1,100mm, H=2,000mm

Advantages in Comparison to the Application of Air Streams as Used Now:

- The discharge speed of the individual particles is independent of the particle material itself, as well as of the size and shape of the particles
- Therefore reproducible peening conditions
- Maintenance-free and reliable

Purpose of Testing:

- Impact Damage to components of all types (e.g. springs, stabilizers, dampers, axle supports, windshields, paintwork, intakes of aircraft engines etc.) by grit and other particles

Typical Results:

    Suspension spring after grit damage
Suspension spring after grit damage and five weeks in a corrosive environment

Typical Customers:

- Paint producers
- Car, truck and bus manufacturers
- Manufacturers of windshields
- Manufacturers of headlight covers
- Manufacturers of aircraft

Additionally, a Large Grit Damage Simulator is available for horizontal discharge with a maximum speed of 300 km/h
