Psalm 097: The King Of Earth

"The LORD reigneth; let the Earth rejoice"

The English-language word "reign" originated from a Latin word, regnare, which meant to rule, and regnum, which meant a kingdom. The word "sovereign," meaning sole reign, is based upon the same word i.e. to reign over one's own kingdom.

The word "foreign" is also based upon the same root word, but with a prefix that when compounded means far reign i.e. the ruler that other countries have made for themselves, or, in the case of aggressive empires, being subjected to the ruler of some other country who presumes to rule over other people's countries - while tolerating no foreign interference in his own country ("malignant" actually began as a political term, not a medical term; see The Rise Of The Malignant Beast).

Not all empires were toxic. The Greek Empire invented and spread democracy long ago ("democracy" originated from an ancient Greek word, pronounced demo-kratia, that meant people power) and the British Empire built cities and economies out of wilderness all around the world (a reality that a number of now-independent countries dishonestly distort or leave out of "their" history, thereby diluting and deluding the education of their children, generation after generation; see also A History Of Jerusalem: The British Mandate).

It's no coincidence that Greek was the welcomed "language of the world" in ancient times (the reason that the New Testament was written in Greek, according to the Will of the LORD) and that English is the welcomed "language of the world" today, but most human empires have been destructive, not constructive, because they were, or are, based on no more than a selfish lust to rule over other free people.

The general definitions explained above are the product of typical human politics - that will not exist in the Kingdom of God. "King" began as a family term, not a political term. "Patriotism" too, literally means faithful to the father, the king. "King" means the head of a kin, the father of a family. That is exactly what will be created by means of the Kingdom of God. Fathers aren't elected by their children; neither are kings.

When He returns, the LORD will rule the only Kingdom that will then exist on Earth (see The Kingdom Of The LORD God).

"2:44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever." (Daniel 2:44 KJV)

"19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 19:12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. 19:13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. 19:14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. 19:15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 19:16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS." (Revelation 19:11-16 KJV)

"4:1 But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it. 4:2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 4:3 And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more." (Micah 4:1-3 KJV)

Then, after all has been completed during the 1,000 year reign of the LORD God (see The Identity Of The LORD God), God the Father, the Ultimate King, is coming to Earth (Revelation 21:1-4; see also The Church: Mission Accomplished) whereby the Kingdom of God will be populated by the then born-again, as spirit, Children of God (see What Was The Lesson Of John 3:16? and What Will Happen On Your Next Birthday?). The Kingdom of God will be composed of one King, one Kingdom (no man-made "country," which means a separate political territory, will no longer exist) and one native-born spiritual family that formerly existed throughout all of humanity.

"21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 21:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." (Revelation 21:1-4 KJV)

The Book of Psalms is also a book of history and prophecy, from Creation (see Psalm 19: The Christian Universe and Psalm 15: When Man First Walked Upright) to the coming Kingdom of God (see Psalm 29: The Patriotism Prophecy and Psalm 21: David's View Of Hell Fire and Paradise).

"97:1 The LORD reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof.

97:2 Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne. 97:3 A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about. 97:4 His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled. 97:5 The hills melted like wax at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth. 97:6 The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.

97:7 Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all ye gods.

97:8 Zion heard, and was glad; and the daughters of Judah rejoiced because of thy judgments, O LORD. 97:9 For thou, LORD, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods. 97:10 Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked. 97:11 Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart. 97:12 Rejoice in the LORD, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness." (Psalm 97:1-12 KJV)
