Proverbs 03: How Does Eternal Life Happen?

by Wayne Blank

"The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit"

Physical objects have three dimensions - length, width and height. A cardboard box is an example - it has three dimensions that can be measured.

The three dimensions can also be used to locate things. Imagine if you were given a map that showed you where buried treasure was located on your property (see also What Did Jesus Say About The Treasure Hunters?). The map provided the instructions to go 30 cubits (a Biblical measure of length) straight out from your front door - not more, not less, or you won't find it. Then, turn right and go 20 cubits - not more, not less, or you won't find it. Then dig down 1 cubit - not less, or you won't find it, or more, or you'll dig past it, perhaps damaging it in doing so. The map would enable you to safely find the treasure by providing the three dimensions of the physical world.

But wait, someone could follow the directions perfectly and still not find the treasure! A fourth physical dimension, time, is also required. If you went before the treasure was put there, as stated on the map, you wouldn't find it even though the map directions were perfectly true and accurate. So too, if you went after the treasure was already found by a previous reader of the map, you wouldn't find it even though the map was perfectly true and accurate. The location and the existence of any physical object is determined by four dimensions - space and time. It's the basis of the physical creation - whether the size of cardboard box in the time that it exists, how to locate an object in the time that it is located there, as well as anything and everything else in the universe - as illustrated below

Do other dimensions exist? Yes, they surely do. God exists. Angels exist. The spirit world consists of at least one more "dimension" of which the physical world is not a part, but in which the spirit world can reveal itself or easily pass through. Examples:

"12:7 And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him." (Genesis 12:7 KJV)

"22:43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him." (Luke 22:43 KJV)

"20:19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you." (John 20:19 KJV)

Time is based upon physical change - again, how time and space are dependent upon each other (see also Einstein's Holy Spirit Formula). The calendar is based upon physical change - sunset to sunset, new moon to new moon, spring to spring. All physical life, including humans, experience physical change that is measured by the units of physical change - days, weeks, months, years.

But God and the angels are not physical. They are spirit that is not subject to physical change. They have never been young, and will never get old. That is what eternal life is - and why it is.

The Holy Bible describes a "quickening" that will not only resurrect the dead, but will add a "dimension" to those formerly physical so that they are no longer subject to any physical change - the physical process that permits illness, aging and injury. On that day will be fulfilled the prophecy "death has been swallowed up in victory."

"8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. 8:12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live." (Romans 8:11-13 KJV)

"15:44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 15:45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit." (1 Corinthians 15:44-45 KJV)

15:51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory." (1 Corinthians 15:51-54 KJV)

The Word of God is like a treasure map that shows the way, when the time of opportunity comes (see The Harvests Of Salvation). It enables the repentant to find the place where eternal life will be given to them.

Eternal life is a free gift to those who repent and obey the LORD (see The LORD God Our Saviour). "For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee" do not end for those who will be quickened to eternal life.

"3:1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: 3:2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.

3:3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: 3:4 So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

3:7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. 3:8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. 3:9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: 3:10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

3:11 My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction: 3:12 For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

3:13 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. 3:14 For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. 3:15 She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. 3:16 Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour. 3:17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. 3:18 She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.

3:19 The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens. 3:20 By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.

3:21 My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion: 3:22 So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck. 3:23 Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble. 3:24 When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet. 3:25 Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh. 3:26 For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

3:27 Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it. 3:28 Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.

3:29 Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee. 3:30 Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm. 3:31 Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways. 3:32 For the froward is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous.

3:33 The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just. 3:34 Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly. 3:35 The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools." (Proverbs 3:1-35 KJV)
