Psalm 030: David's Resurrection Prophecy

"O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave ... Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing"

The Messiah (see Israel In History and Prophecy: The Messiah) is the firstborn from the dead - with a purpose for all who choose to truly follow Him, rather than merely using His Name for their own arrogance and lusts (see Why Call Me, Lord, Lord, and Do Not The Things Which I Say? and The Messiah's Teachings About Gates; also Truly Uplifting and How Does Satan Impersonate Jesus Christ?).

"1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, 1:6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen." (Revelation 1:5-6 KJV)

"1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 1:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence." (Colossians 1:16-18 KJV)

The first major resurrection of humanity will occur on the day of the Messiah's return (see What Happened When The Messiah Arrived In Heaven? and What Happens After The Messiah Returns?).

"4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17 KJV)

"15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. 15:51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 15:55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?" (1 Corinthians 15:50-55 KJV)

The second major resurrection will occur 1,000 years after the Messiah's return (see The Eighth Day: Empty Cemeteries).

"20:5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished." (Revelation 20:5 KJV)

"37:4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. 37:5 Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: 37:6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD." (Ezekiel 37:4-6 KJV)

The prophets of the LORD all knew when and how the resurrections will occur (e.g. see Isaiah: Visions Of The Messiah). Many others who are not usually regarded as prophets were also well-aware of the resurrections to come. For example, Job plainly described the resurrection.

"19:25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: 19:26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: 19:27 Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me." (Job 19:25-27 KJV)

King David also clearly saw his own resurrection to come i.e. "O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave" (see David's Sepulchre) and "Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing."

"30:1 A Psalm and Song at the dedication of the house of David.

I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me. 30:2 O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me. 30:3 O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.

30:4 Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. 30:5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

30:6 And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved. 30:7 LORD, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled. 30:8 I cried to thee, O LORD; and unto the LORD I made supplication. 30:9 What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth? 30:10 Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper.

30:11 Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; 30:12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever." (Psalm 30:1-12 KJV)
