스08:21-23 21 때에 내가 아하와강 가에서 금식을 선포하고 우리 하나님 앞에서 스스로 겸비하여 우리와 우리 어린 것과 모든 소유를 위하여 평탄한 길을 그에게 간구하였으니 22 이는 우리가 전에 왕에게 고하기를 우리 하나님의 손은 자기를 찾는 모든 자에게 선을 베푸시고 자기를 배반하는 모든 자에게는 권능과 진노를 베푸신다 하였으므로 길에서 적군을 막고 우리를 도울 보병과 마병을 왕에게 구하기를 부끄러워 하였음이라 23 그러므로 우리가 이를 위하여 금식하며 우리 하나님께 간구하였더니 그 응낙하심을 입었느니라 

21 Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance. 22 For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God [is] upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath [is] against all them that forsake him. 23 So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us. 

21 那时，我在亚哈瓦河边宣告禁食，为要在我们神面前克苦己心，求他使我们和妇人孩子，并一切所有的，都得平坦的道路。 22 我求王拨步兵马兵帮助我们抵挡路上的仇敌，本以为羞耻；因我曾对王说：「我们神施恩的手必帮助一切寻求他的；但他的能力和忿怒必攻击一切离弃他的。」 23 所以我们禁食祈求我们的神，他就应允了我们。 

21 そこで， 私はその 所， アハワ 川のほとりで 斷食を 布告した． それは， 私たちの 神の 前でへりくだり， 私たちのために， 私たちの 子どもたちと， 私たちのすべての 持ち 物のために， 道中の 無事を 神に 願い 求めるためであった． 22 私は 道中の 敵から 私たちを 助ける 部隊と 騎兵たちを 王に 求めるのを 恥じたからである． 私たちは， かつて 王に， 「私たちの 神の 御手は， 神を 尋ね 求めるすべての 者の 上に 幸いを 下し， その 力と 怒りとは， 神を 捨てるすべての 者の 上に 下る． 」と 言っていたからである． 23 だから， 私たちはこのことのために 斷食して， 私たちの 神に 願い 求めた． すると 神は 私たちの 願いを 聞き 入れてくださった． 

21 Porque tuve vergüenza de pedir al  rey tropa y gente de a caballo que nos defendiesen del enemigo en el camino;  porque habíamos hablado al rey, diciendo: La mano de nuestro Dios es para  bien sobre todos los que le buscan; mas su poder y su furor contra todos los  que le abandonan. 22 Ayunamos, pues, y pedimos a nuestro  Dios sobre esto, y él nos fue propicio. 23 Aparté luego a doce de los  principales de los sacerdotes, a Serebías y a Hasabías, y con ellos diez de  sus hermanos;
