창32:3 야곱이 에서에게 화해를 요청함 
창 32:3 Jacob sent messengers ahead of him to his brother Esau in the land of Seir, the country of Edom. 
창 32:4 He instructed them: "This is what you are to say to my master Esau: 'Your servant Jacob says, I have been staying with Laban and have remained there till now. 
창 32:5 I have cattle and donkeys, sheep and goats, menservants and maidservants. Now I am sending this message to my l ord, that I may find favor in your eyes.'" 

창32:6 에서와 400인 
창 32:6 When the messengers returned to Jacob, they said, "We went to your brother Esau, and now he is coming to m eet you, and four hundred men are with him." 
창 32:7 In great fear and distress Jacob divided the people who were with him into two groups, and the flocks and herds and camels as well. 
창 32:8 He thought, "If Esau comes and attacks one group, the group that is left may escape." 

창32:9 야곱의 두려움 
창 32:9 Then Jacob prayed, "O God of my father Abraham, God of my father Isaac, O LORD, who said to me, 'Go back t o your country and your relatives, and I will make you prosper,' 
창 32:10 I am unworthy of all the kindness and faithfulness you have shown your servant. I had only my staff when I cro ssed this Jordan, but now I have become two groups. 
창 32:11 Save me, I pray, from the hand of my brother Esau, for I am afraid he will come and attack me, and also the mo thers with their children. 
창 32:12 But you have said, 'I will surely make you prosper and will make your descendants like the sand of the sea, wh ich cannot be counted.'" 

창32:13 야곱의 예물준비 
창 32:13 He spent the night there, and from what he had with him he selected a gift for his brother Esau: 
창 32:14 two hundred female goats and twenty male goats, two hundred ewes and twenty rams, 
창 32:15 thirty female camels with their young, forty cows and ten bulls, and twenty female donkeys and ten male donkey s. 
창 32:16 He put them in the care of his servants, each herd by itself, and said to his servants, "Go ahead of me, and keep some space between the herds." 
창 32:17 He instructed the one in the lead: "When my brother Esau meets you and asks, 'To whom do you belong, and where are you going, and who owns all these animals in front of you?' 
창 32:18 then you are to say, 'They belong to your servant Jacob. They are a gift sent to my lord Esau, and he is comin g behind us.'" 
창 32:19 He also instructed the second, the third and all the others who followed the herds: "You are to say the s ame thing to Esau when you meet him. 
창 32:20 And be sure to say, 'Your servant Jacob is coming behind us.'" For he thought, "I will pacify him wi th these gifts I am sending on ahead; later, when I see him, perhaps he will receive me." 

창32:21 얍복강의 씨름 
창 32:21 So Jacob's gifts went on ahead of him, but he himself spent the night in the camp. 
창 32:22 That night Jacob got up and took his two wives, his two maidservants and his eleven sons and crossed the ford of the Jabbok. 
창 32:23 After he had sent them across the stream, he sent over all his possessions. 
창 32:24 So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak. 
창 32:25 When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacob's hip so that his hip was wre nched as he wrestled with the man. 
창 32:26 Then the man said, "Let me go, for it is daybreak." But Jacob replied, "I will not let you go u nless you bless me." 

창32:27 야곱의 이름 개명(이스라엘) 
창 32:27 The man asked him, "What is your name?" "Jacob," he answered. 
창 32:28 Then the man said, "Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God an d with men and have overcome." 
창 32:29 Jacob said, "Please tell me your name." But he replied, "Why do you ask my name?" Then he blessed him there. 
창 32:30 So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying, "It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spar ed." 
창 32:31 The sun rose above him as he passed Peniel, and he was limping because of his hip. 
창 32:32 Therefore to this day the Israelites do not eat the tendon attached to the socket of the hip, because the sock et of Jacob's hip was touched near the tendon. 

창33:12 야곱과 에서의 이별 
창 33:12 Then Esau said, "Let us be on our way; I'll accompany you." 
창 33:13 But Jacob said to him, "My lord knows that the children are tender and that I must care for the ewes and cows that are nursing their young. If they are driven hard just one day, all the animals will die. 
창 33:14 So let my lord go on ahead of his servant, while I move along slowly at the pace of the droves before me and t hat of the children, until I come to my lord in Seir." 
창 33:15 Esau said, "Then let me leave some of my men with you." "But why do that?" Jacob asked. "Just let me find favor in the eyes of my lord." 
창 33:16 So that day Esau started on his way back to Seir. 
창 33:17 Jacob, however, went to Succoth, where he built a place for himself and made shelters for his livestock. That is why the place is called Succoth. 

창33:18 야곱의 세겜 정착 
창 33:18 After Jacob came from Paddan Aram, he arrived safely at the city of Shechem in Canaan and camped within sight of the city. 
창 33:19 For a hundred pieces of silver, he bought from the sons of Hamor, the father of Shechem, the plot of ground wh ere he pitched his tent. 
창 33:20 There he set up an altar and called it El Elohe Israel. 

창34:13 할례 받은 세겜족 
창 34:13 Because their sister Dinah had been defiled, Jacob's sons replied deceitfully as they spoke to Shechem and his father Hamor. 
창 34:14 They said to them, "We can't do such a thing; we can't give our sister to a man who is not circumcised. T hat would be a disgrace to us. 
창 34:15 We will give our consent to you on one condition only: that you become like us by circumcising all your males. 
창 34:16 Then we will give you our daughters and take your daughters for ourselves. We'll settle among you and become o ne people with you. 
창 34:17 But if you will not agree to be circumcised, we'll take our sister and go." 
창 34:18 Their proposal seemed good to Hamor and his son Shechem. 
창 34:19 The young man, who was the most honored of all his father's household, lost no time in doing what they said, b ecause he was delighted with Jacob's daughter. 
창 34:20 So Hamor and his son Shechem went to the gate of their city to speak to their fellow townsmen. 
창 34:21 "These men are friendly toward us," they said. "Let them live in our land and trade in it; the land has plenty of room for them. We can marry their daughters and they can marry ours. 
창 34:22 But the men will consent to live with us as one people only on the condition that our males be circumcised, as they themselves are. 
창 34:23 Won't their livestock, their property and all their other animals become ours? So let us give our consent to t hem, and they will settle among us." 
창 34:24 All the men who went out of the city gate agreed with Hamor and his son Shechem, and every male in the city wa s circumcised. 

창34:25 야곱 아들들의 복수 
창 34:25 Three days later, while all of them were still in pain, two of Jacob's sons, Simeon and Levi, Dinah's brothers , took their swords and attacked the unsuspecting city, killing every male. 
창 34:26 They put Hamor and his son Shechem to the sword and took Dinah from Shechem's house and left. 
창 34:27 The sons of Jacob came upon the dead bodies and looted the city where their sister had been defiled. 
창 34:28 They seized their flocks and herds and donkeys and everything else of theirs in the city and out in the fields . 
창 34:29 They carried off all their wealth and all their women and children, taking as plunder everything in the houses . 
창 34:30 Then Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, "You have brought trouble on me by making me a stench to the Canaanit es and Perizzites, the people living in this land. We are few in number, and if they join forces against me and attack m e, I and my household will be destroyed." 
창 34:31 But they replied, "Should he have treated our sister like a prostitute?" 

창35:6 벧엘의 제단 
창 35:6 Jacob and all the people with him came to Luz (that is, Bethel) in the land of Canaan. 
창 35:7 There he built an altar, and he called the place El Bethel, because it was there that God revealed himself to h im when he was fleeing from his brother. 
창 35:8 Now Deborah, Rebekah's nurse, died and was buried under the oak below Bethel. So it was named Allon Bacuth. 
창 35:9 After Jacob returned from Paddan Aram, God appeared to him again and blessed him. 
창 35:10 God said to him, "Your name is Jacob, but you will no longer be called Jacob; your name will be Israel. " So he named him Israel. 
창 35:11 And God said to him, "I am God Almighty; be fruitful and increase in number. A nation and a community of nations will come from you, and kings will come from your body. 
창 35:12 The land I gave to Abraham and Isaac I also give to you, and I will give this land to your descendants after y ou." 
창 35:13 Then God went up from him at the place where he had talked with him. 
창 35:14 Jacob set up a stone pillar at the place where God had talked with him, and he poured out a drink offering on it; he also poured oil on it. 
창 35:15 Jacob called the place where God had talked with him Bethel. 

창35:16 베냐민 출생과 라헬의 죽음 
창 35:16 Then they moved on from Bethel. While they were still some distance from Ephrath, Rachel began to give birth a nd had great difficulty. 
창 35:17 And as she was having great difficulty in childbirth, the midwife said to her, "Don't be afraid, for you have another son." 
창 35:18 As she breathed her last--for she was dying--she named her son Ben-Oni. But his father named him Benjamin. 
창 35:19 So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem). 
창 35:20 Over her tomb Jacob set up a pillar, and to this day that pillar marks Rachel's tomb. 

창35:21 르우벤과 서모의 통간 
창 35:21 Israel moved on again and pitched his tent beyond Migdal Eder. 
창 35:22 While Israel was living in that region, Reuben went in and slept with his father's concubine Bilhah, and Israe l heard of it. Jacob had twelve sons: 

창35:23 야곱의 열두 아들 
창 35:23 The sons of Leah: Reuben the firstborn of Jacob, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar and Zebulun. 
창 35:24 The sons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin. 
창 35:25 The sons of Rachel's maidservant Bilhah: Dan and Naphtali. 
창 35:26 The sons of Leah's maidservant Zilpah: Gad and Asher. These were the sons of Jacob, who were born to him in Pa ddan Aram. 

창35:27 이삭의 죽음 
창 35:27 Jacob came home to his father Isaac in Mamre, near Kiriath Arba (that is, Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac had stayed. 
창 35:28 Isaac lived a hundred and eighty years. 
창 35:29 Then he breathed his last and died and was gathered to his people, old and full of years. And his sons Esau an d Jacob buried him. 

창36:6 세일의 에서 
창 36:6 Esau took his wives and sons and daughters and all the members of his household, as well as his livestock and a ll his other animals and all the goods he had acquired in Canaan, and moved to a land some distance from his brother Jac ob. 
창 36:7 Their possessions were too great for them to remain together; the land where they were staying could not suppor t them both because of their livestock. 
창 36:8 So Esau (that is, Edom) settled in the hill country of Seir.

창 36:35 When Husham died, Hadad son of Bedad, who defeated Midian in the country of Moab, succeeded him as king. His c ity was named Avith. 
창 36:36 When Hadad died, Samlah from Masrekah succeeded him as king. 
창 36:37 When Samlah died, Shaul from Rehoboth on the river succeeded him as king. 
창 36:38 When Shaul died, Baal-Hanan son of Acbor succeeded him as king. 
창 36:39 When Baal-Hanan son of Acbor died, Hadad succeeded him as king. His city was named Pau, and his wife's name wa s Mehetabel daughter of Matred, the daughter of Me-Zahab.
