▶ 공작/타조 Peacocks.

These were imported by Solomon along with ivory and apes. The Hebrew word tukkiyyim is very similar to the Cingalese name of the peacock, tokei, and this is doubtless the bird intended. 1 Kings 10:22; 2 Chr. 9:21. The common peacock is the Pavo cristatus. In Job 39:13 is the word renanim, and this is supposed to refer to the ostrich: q.v.

(왕상10:22 왕이 바다에 다시스 배들을 두어 히람의 배와 함께 있게 하고 그다시스 배로 삼년에 일차씩 금과 은과 상아와 잔나비와 공작을 실어 왔음이더라

(대하09:21 왕의 배들이 후람의 종들과 함께 다시스로 다니며 그 배가 삼년에 일차씩 금과 은과 상아와 잔나비와 공작을 실어옴이더라

(욥39:13 타조는 즐거이 그 날개를 친다마는 그 깃과 털이 인자를 베푸느냐 13 [Gavest thou] the goodly wings unto the peacocks? or wings and feathers unto the ostrich?  13 The wings of the ostrich wave proudly; (But) are they the pinions and plumage of love?
